In 2009 my husband unexpectedly lost most of the hearing in his right ear. After medical consultations confirmed that the loss was permanent, he received an aid that was helpful for a while. When it was no longer effective, he decided that aids would not be helpful for him.
When we moved to Bozeman, I convinced him to try one more time and we went to see Nathan. He explained why John's aids were no longer effective and suggested a new system. This system transmits sound wirelessly from John's right ear to his left. Finally, he is able to participate in conversations when people are on his right and we don't need to figure out the best place for him to sit at a table. He no longer needs to have information repeated, making all of us less frustrated. We are so grateful to Nathan for leading us so kindly to this new solution.
We have also been impressed with the degree of service we have received from Treasure State Hearing. They are definitely devoted to being sure their customers have the best possible outcomes from their aids.
"Treasure State Hearing has been extremely satisfying for many reasons: 1) I was able to make an appointment in a satisfactory amount of time; 2) Strength of Nathan's knowledge in both evaluating my hearing & fitting my hearing aid; 3) Followup has been very consistent with return visits and followup telephone calls to check on my status and response to the new appliance and understanding of every aspect of the aids use. I would recommend Treasure State Hearing for accomadation, knowledge, and service in the use of my appliance!"
"After a four month search and three tedious hearing aid trials, I finally found the best hearing care provider and product in Bozeman. "I was referred to Nathan Putnam at Treasure State Hearing by Bridger Ear Nose & Throat. I was very pleased by the process of checking my hearing and with the help I was given by Nathan in choosing hearing aids. He has also been very helpful to me in getting accustomed to them. I am happy to recommend Treasure State Hearing."
"Recently I received my very first pair of hearing aids. I chose Nathan Putnam and Treasure State Hearing to guide me through this new experience. As a newcomer, I had many questions and soon found that Nathan Putnam's explanations and advice were always clear and easy to understand, his knowledge and experience gave me confidence in my choices, and his professionalism and patience were exactly what I need to feel comfortable with my level of understanding. With Nathan's help and guidance, I am confident that I made the right decisions and I am happy with my results. I'd recommend Nathan Putnam and Treasure State Hearing for those with hearing needs."
"Treasure State Hearing has been very helpful and informative. The transition from not wearing a hearing aid to wearing one has been easier than I thought it would be. The Widex hearing aid has really helped with the ringing in my ears by using the Zen program/technology. I love the convenience of the remote control to change programs to what I need at that time. Living in West Yellowstone and obtaining the service I need has not been a problem at all!"
"Hearing Aids have changed my life profoundly. I now can engage in conversations without asking people to repeat everything they say. I can hear my cat meow and the birds singing. Losing my hearing slowly, I did not realize how much I had lost until I got hearing aids. Then, the workd seemed to open up to me. I am extremely grateful to Treasure State Hearing for their help and support!"

"After seven years and about as many appointments I almost accepted that was the best I would hear again. Then I tried again and went to Treasure State Hearing. I found Nathan to be very comfortable to talk to and he listened carefully to my explanation of my problem. My fit and hearing is now what I hoped it could be again. I don't mind wearing my hearing aids now. I hope yo can achieve the same success!"
"After being a hearing aid user for 6 years, I became not only thoroughly dependent on them but very frustrated with the service I had received for them. During a quest for something new and better, I came upon Nathan Putnam at Treasure State Hearing. I am extremely pleased with both the products he has available and his fast and thorough service. Nathan is always eager to please and a pleasure to work with. I hope to be his customer for a long time to come."
"When I initially contacted Treasure State Hearing, I was looking for an audiologist who wouldn't see me as just another patient. I wanted someone who was going to care about me and my degenerative condition. Someone who would continue to care about my condition even after purchasing hearing aids and someone who would also help keep me aware of all of my options to manage my hearing loss (not just fitting me with hearing aids and leaving it at that). During the first conversation I had with Nathan, he not only made me believe he was exactly the type of audiologist I was looking for he also gave me hope; hope that there was someone other than me that was going to care about my hearing health and the quality of life that was possible when living with hearing loss. Treasure State Hearing has given me more than I had hoped for. I would recommend Nathan to anyone who is looking for an audiologist who is kind, compassionate and innovative."
"I was fitted with hearing aids at Treasure State Hearing nearly two years ago. Some problems have required several trips to Bozeman to get a solution to the issues. Everytime I came in I was greeted with a smile and Nathan did all he could to solve the issue. I would not hesitate to recommend Treasure State Hearing to anyone who needs a specialist to fit him/her with hearing aids!"
"Thank you for the gift of sound! Nathan is knowledgeable, concise, and desires to bring the gift of sound to ones ears. He worked with me to find the most compatible hearing aid to fit my lifestyle, budget, and can answer ANY questions.
The joyful noises of horses talking outside, birds chirping, and my daughter calling me from afar is nothing short of audible and incredible."
"After years of denial I am once again enjoying all the sounds of life. Despite the encouragement of my family and friends it was not just pride that kept me from seeking a solution to my worsening hearing loss. I was encouraged that I wouldn't find a hearing professional that would work with me to identify my hearing needs up front and to continue to work with me to make certain that I was getting the most from my devices. Nathan Putnam is exactly that kind of hearing professional that I was hoping to find. At Treasure State Hearing I was treated in a way that made me comfortable that my best interests were Nathan's primary concern. My family and professional life are greatly enhanced with the addition of my Phonak hearing devices and I have Nathan to thank for my confidence in their use."
"My problem began about 6 months ago when I started to have ringing in my ears. I tried to diagnose myself first by using the Internet. There is a lot of information up there, but everything pretty much said that "there is no cure." One website recommended a product called Lipo Flavenoid as an ear nutrient that can be purchased at stores like Walmart. So I tried it. Well, as you guessed, it didn't work. My primary doctor is a problem solver and suggested several approaches to address the ringing, which included a nasal spray, Sudafed, and a visit to an Ear, Nose, & Throat Physician. In the end both doctors recommended that I see an Audiologist.
What a wonderful breakthrough! I met Nathan Putnam at Treasure State Hearing. He performed tests with sophisticated equipment on my ears which included testing my hearing levels and showing me the inside of my ears. After he did the testing, we talked. He informed me that I have some hearing loss, but there is possible help with a Widex hearing device. Nathan discussed a feature of the hearing device called Zen which plays fractile tones through the hearing device. It also has a remote to control the hearing aid features and Zen. The way this works is that you play the Zen in a quiet environment to soften the ringing and possibly retrain the ear.
Nathan was a wonderful person to talk to about my problem. He gave me alternatives and a lot more information about what is happening with my ears. I bought the Widex hearing devices with Zen. I am working on retraining my ears with the Zen feature. There is no guarantee, but there is hope which is more than anyone had for me so far. Instead of making me feel that because of my 66 years that I have to "just live with it," Nathan had a quality solution based on data related to my specific situation. After a long road of frustration and disappointment, Nathan has inspired hope and provided relief. I am so thankful for Nathan's help!"
I want to thank Nathan and Treasure State Hearing for outfitting me with my new hearing aids. I've worn hearing aids over 50 years and am just fascinated by how the technology has changed. I'm completely deaf in my right ear but my new Phonak aids pick up sound on my right side and send it to my left hearing aid. From my many years of experience I know that it is important to get an audiologist and not a "hearing aid salesperson". Not every brand is right for everybody and working with Treasure State allows me access to several brands to be sure I'm fitted with the right one. I know my daughter loves my improved hearing!
"I lost the hearing in my right ear over 50 years ago, due to having had the mumps and measles within 2 weeks of each other as a child. There were many social situations in my life that were difficult and awkward because of my hearing loss. Recently, the hearing in my left ear began to decline as well, and a hearing aid in that ear only helped marginally. After doing some research, and after hearing the recommendation of
another hearing professional, I consulted Nathan Putnam of Treasure State Hearing. He fitted me with Phonak hearing aids and my life has been so immensely improved! Now I can actually hear people talking to me when they are on my right side, and I am able to hear conversations clearly when I am in a noisy environment. Nathan is so knowledgeable and patient. He explained my new aids carefully, and I had no problem adjusting to their use. I highly recommend Nathan and the Treasure State Hearing Center to anyone who has hearing loss issues."
"I have been deaf in my right ear since early childhood. One good ear on the left served me well until the gradual onset of progressive high frequency hearing loss in my good ear made hearing conversations more and more difficult. Nathan at Treasure State Hearing suggested the use of Phonak hearing aids which provide an aid for the deaf ear that sends sounds without wires to my good ear. The good ear aid then magnifies the appropriate frequencies for the loss of hearing in my good ear. The results have been excellent allowing me to carrying on conversations in crowded restaurants and to hear people speaking on my "deaf" side for the first time. The advanced technology in the hearing aids and the excellent service provided by Nathan Putnam at Treasure State Hearing made this possible. Many thanks from both my wife and me!"
